It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death today, Monday 6th December 2021, peacefully at home of ex C/Supt Henry ‘Harry’ Alwyn CARRINGTON, 92 years. For the last few years he was living with Dementia. His next of kin is his wife, Mrs Claire Carrington. Harry, as he was known, retired from the Derbyshire Constabulary in 1982 as Chief Superintendent at Headquarters (unfortunately I do not know what department). He served as a PC in Matlock, as an Inspector at Derby and he was also seconded for several years to H.M. Inspector of Constabulary. In his early years he played football for the Derbyshire Police team. His funeral has been arranged for 1.30pm on Thursday 16th December 2021 at Stockport Crematorium, Buxton Road, Stockport SK2 6LS. It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death yesterday, Thursday 2nd December 2021, after a short illness of ex PC 118 Frederick (Fred) James BROWN, 86 years. His next of kin is his wife, Pamela Brown whom he married about 10 years ago. His first wife Margaret Brown died several years before. Fred retired in about 1985 having served in Chesterfield CID and Chesterfield area. He then worked as a civilian within the Police for 10 years as a statement taker/evidence gatherer. His funeral has been arranged for 11.30am on Thursday 16th December 2021 at Sherwood Forest Crematorium, Ollerton. No Flowers but donations to Police Care UK. Sean Murphy (Secretary) It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death on Wednesday 3rd November 2021, at home after a short illness, of ex PC 757 Kenneth Alexander CAMPBELL, 74 years. His next of kin is his son, Mr James Campbell. Ken, as he was known, lived with his partner Ingrid Kennedy, for the last 21 years. Ken retired in 1998, having served on Road Traffic and as an Instructor with Driving School. He was also a relief Chief Constable's driver chauffeur. In 2000 he joined Derbyshire as a Civilian, as the Facilities Manager at Central Workshops until 2015. His funeral has been arranged for 11.00am on Tuesday 23rd November 2021 at Amber Valley Memorial Park and Crematorium, Derby Road, Swanwick DE55 1BH. Stephen lived with his son, David. Unfortunately I have only just been informed of Stephen’s passing. His funeral has already taken place.
Stephen retired in 2010 having served in Derby, Derby CID and Fraud Squad. It has been requested that no letters of condolence be sent. His next of kin is his twin brother Paul Harrison (rtd Police Officer with GMP).
Stephen started his Police Career with the Metropolitan Police before transferring to Derbyshire from whom he retired on 28th March 2019. He then joined Staffordshire Police as a civilian investigator until his passing. His funeral took place on the 19th October 2021 and was well supported by Staffordshire Police. Ron, as he was known, retired in 1995 after 31 years. He served at Chesterfield and as a Detective Constable in Pear Tree CID, Derby. Don as he was known retired in 1984 whilst in the Dog Section, where he served 21 years. Prior to that he served in Buxton and Chesterfield. Members will remember his dogs Rock (2) and Basil. The funeral has not been arranged but will be a private family service as per his wishes. Vernon as he was known lived in Sunderland. His next of kin is his daughter Mrs Diane Hunter.
Vernon joined the Derbyshire Police in 1963, after National Service in the Army. He retired in about 1988 and served in CID, C Division and Sgt at Shirebrook until retirement. His funeral as been arranged for 2.00pm on Monday 8th November 2021 at Sunderland Crematorium Chester Rd, Sunderland SR4 7RS. His daughter says that she fully understands that friends and ex colleagues may not be able to attend due to the distance involved but she asks if they could bear him in their thoughts . Her next of kin is her husband, Mr Peter Allen.
Michelle started her career with Nottinghamshire Police before transferring to Derbyshire as Sergeant. Then followed a period where she was an Instructor at the Police Training Centre at Dishforth and on return was Sergeant at Glossop Police Station. She was also the Sergeants rep on the Police Federation. She retired on ill health in about 1997. Her funeral has been arranged for 1.30pm on Tuesday 2nd November 2021 at Sherwood Crematorium, Newark Road, New Ollerton, Newark NG22 0DY. Gathering at the Crematorium is from 1.00pm to 1.20pm. Unfortunately I do not have full details of his service with the Specials, but he was Commandant for 10 years retiring in 1993 from that post. His next of kin is his daughter Mrs Hazel Williams. Eric was an active and long standing member of the International Police Association (IPA) Derbyshire Branch.

His next of kin is his son Philip O’Brien. Des as he was known, started with the British Transport Police for 5 years before joining Derby Boro’ Police (Pc 33) before amalgamation. He served mainly in the Boro’ and South Derbyshire and for the last 10 years he was a Crime Prevention Officer. He was heavily involved with the Police Federation where he was chair of the JBB. Phil, as he was known, retired in 1993 whilst a Patrol Sergeant in Chesterfield. He served in Matlock, Swadlincote, Renishaw and Chesterfield mainly in CID. He was seconded to the Regional Crime Squad and on return was the Intelligence Officer. His son David is a retired Derbyshire Police Officer and his grandson is a serving Police Officer with South Yorkshire. His funeral has been arranged for 2.30pm on Thursday 24th June 2021 at Chesterfield Crematorium, Chesterfield Road, Brimington, Chesterfield S43 1AU. Covid restrictions will apply to the Service, however mourners are able to line the route at the Crematorium. Sharon passed away on the 30th April 2021, nine days after her 60th Birthday and after a 3 year battle with Cancer. John is her next of kin.

Doreen was the widow of Pc Ron Applegate BEM, who was a baritone soloist in Derbyshire Police Male Voice Choir. Doreen’s next of kin is her son, David Applegate. The funeral has already taken place. We have only just been informed of her passing.
