It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death today, Monday 6th December 2021, peacefully at home of ex C/Supt Henry ‘Harry’ Alwyn CARRINGTON, 92 years. For the last few years he was living with Dementia. His next of kin is his wife, Mrs Claire Carrington. Harry, as he was known, retired from the Derbyshire Constabulary in 1982 as Chief Superintendent at Headquarters (unfortunately I do not know what department). He served as a PC in Matlock, as an Inspector at Derby and he was also seconded for several years to H.M. Inspector of Constabulary. In his early years he played football for the Derbyshire Police team. His funeral has been arranged for 1.30pm on Thursday 16th December 2021 at Stockport Crematorium, Buxton Road, Stockport SK2 6LS. No Flowers but donations to the Alzheimer’s Society. Sean Murphy (Secretary)

He was an enquiry office clerk at Matlock Police Station when I started there as a cadet in 1957. I always enjoyed shifts with him- I could always expect understanding and sound advice. It was never a surprise when he rose through the ranks. Your comment will be posted after it is approved.
