It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death on the 21st March 2022, whilst on holiday in Portugal, of ex PC 1113 Michael Christopher WINCHURCH, 67 years. His next of kin is his wife Ann Winchurch.
Michael took ill whilst on holiday and after 3 weeks of tests they found a terminal tumour and he passed away at Faro Hospital, Portugal. As is the case abroad with quick funerals, he was cremated on Friday 25th March, 2022 and his ashes were scattered near his holiday home. Michael was a former cadet and was stationed mainly in B Division as uniform and CID until his retirement in 2003 when he worked in Crime Management at Buxton. Sean Murphy (Secretary)

It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death on the 6th March 2022, from Cancer, of ex D/Insp Raymond GRIFFITHS, 77years. His next of kin is his son, Raymond Griffiths. Ray retired in 1994 having served in uniform at Heanor and Chesterfield and then with the Regional Crime Squad as D/Sergeant and D/Inspector. It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death on the 10th February 2022, suddenly after a short illness, of ex Sgt Angela May MANSON nee GRUBB, 82 years. Angela was a long term resident of Cloverleaf Care Home, Lincoln. Unfortunately I have not been able to contact any next of kin. Angela served at Alfreton and Chesterfield until her retirement. Her funeral took place at St. Cuthbert’s Church, Brattleby, Lincs on the 8th March 2022. Sean Murphy (Secretary) It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death on the 17th March 2022 of Mrs Anne GIBBS of Poole, Dorset. Anne was the widow of ex C/Supt David Gibbs, who died whilst serving in 1985 as Divisional Commander of ‘C’ Division. Her next of kin is her son, retired D/Sgt Andy Gibbs. Anne was a widow member of Dorset NARPO.
Her funeral has been arranged for 11.00am on Thursday 14th April 2022 at The Barn Harbour View Crematorium and Woodland Burial, Randalls Hill, Lytchett Minster, Poole BH16 6AN. She was the wife of ex C/Supt 1175 Anthony ‘Tony’ Bateman. The funeral has already taken place.

Barbara’s funeral has been arranged for 11.00am on Tuesday 29th March 2022 at Amber Valley Memorial Park and Crematorium, Derby Road, Swanwick DE55 1BH and afterwards at Alfreton Hall, Church Street, Alfreton DE55 7AH. Sean Murphy (Secretary) It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death on the 27th February 2022, after a short illness, at Glanclywdd Hospital from pneumonia, of Mrs Cynthia Margaret WILDSMITH 73 years. Cynthia was the wife of ex PC 824 Philip Wildsmith of Prestatyn, North Wales.
Her funeral has been arranged for 12.00 noon on Thursday 17th March 2022 at Denbighshire Memorial Park and Crematorium, Glascoed Road, St. Asaph LL17 0LG. Sean Murphy (Secretary) It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death of ex PC David FOSTER, 78 years, on the 21st February 2022. His next of kin is his wife Margaret Foster. David joined Derby Borough Police where he worked as a Traffic and a Firearms Officer. He retired early from the Police, whilst in his forties to help run a Children’s Home in Leicester with his wife Margaret.
His funeral has been arranged for 2.45pm on Thursday 17th March 2022 at Loughborough Crematorium, Leicester Road, Loughborough LE11 2AF. Sean Murphy (Secretary) |
