It is with sadness, that I also have to inform you of the death on Friday 16th October 2020 of ex C/Insp 444 Peter Gerard SALT, 71 years, after a long illness. His next of kin is his wife, Mrs Kathleen Salt. Peter was in Hayward House Hospice within Nottingham City Hospital but unfortunately caught Covid 19.
Peter retired in about 1995 as Chief Inspector to Chief Constable Mr. Newing, he served at Derby, Ilkeston CID and Nottingham Regional Crime Squad. He was also one of the last Police Cadets of the old Derby Borough Police.
His funeral will be held at 2.00pm on Wednesday 4th November 2020 at St.Andrews Church, Stanley, Ilkeston.

It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death on Sunday 30th August 2020, from a heart attack, of ex Sgt John Phillip WILKINSON, 62 years. His next of kin is his wife Mrs. Karen Wilkinson. John joined Derbyshire Police in 1977 and served at Renishaw, Road Traffic and as Custody Sergeant at Ripley Police Station until 2007 when he retired.
His funeral has been arranged for Tuesday 15th September 2020 at Amber Valley Crematorium which will be purely for family due to the restrictions placed on the Crematorium by the Pandemic regulations.

It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death, on Monday 10th August 2020 of ex DC Howard Graham LOYDALL, 76 years, after a short illness. His next of kin is his son Phil Loydall. Graham, as he was known, joined the Derby Borough Police and served on the Regional Crime Squad and Derby CID until his retirement in 1992.
No funeral date has been arranged but it is to be a Direct Cremation at Markeaton Crematorium with no mourners, as per his wishes. In these circumstances I do not propose to inform you of the funeral date.

It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death, yesterday Wednesday 14th July 2020 of ex Insp Raymond Thomas HAYNES, 91 years, at Derby Community Hospital. Ray’s next of kin is his elder daughter, Caroline Statham. Ray, as he was known, served 25 years until his retirement in about 1974. He served in Matlock, Alfreton and finally Heanor.
His funeral has been arranged for 3.20pm on Thursday 30th July 2020 at Markeaton Crematorium, Derby DE22 4NH. The usual restrictions are in place due to the pandemic.

It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death at home on Saturday 20th June 2020, from an aortic aneurism, of ex Sgt Brian FIDLER, 90 years. His next of kin are his son’s Tony and John Fidler. Brian’s wife Sheelah passed away in January 2020. Brian retired in 1985 having worked in Chesterfield and retired as Sergeant from Dronfield.

On Wednesday 3rd June 2020, Walter Leslie Bryan Buswell (Bryan/Walt/Buzz), loving husband of the late Jean and the late Joan, dear special friend of the late Jean (Johnson), father of Roger and Andrew and grandfather of Ben and Will, passed away at Neale Court, Lincoln at the age of 87.
Bryan was born at Shawell, Leicestershire on 4th July 1932 and served 5 years with the Royal Lincolnshire Regiment followed by 30 years as a serving police constable with Derby Borough Police and later Derbyshire Constabulary Traffic Division, living in Chaddesden.
During his exemplary police career, Bryan was commended on 7 occasions. He was a police driver for the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary Flying Squad and during his service he saved many lives and dealt with many tragic incidents. In 1973 he was injured on duty resulting in a life-lasting disablement.
Bryan was also awarded the Royal Humane Society Testimonial on Vellum for bravery.
Bryan was a keen allotment holder with Chaddesden Park Allotments Association, becoming secretary and later representing Derby allotment associations in the National Allotment Society.
Due to current restrictions a funeral will be held at Markeaton Crematorium, Derby on Friday 19th June 2020 at 12 noon, limited to a small number of close family. Family flowers only please, however donations in Bryan’s memory are welcome to either

Walter had been poorly for many years with Cancer. His next of kin are his sons Andrew and Roger Buswell. Walter joined the Derby Borough Police on 22nd September 1955 after serving in the Army with the Royal Lincolnshire Regiment during the Suez Crisis, where he was shot in the foot. He also served in Germany. After joining the Police, he started in Chaddesden and most of his career was with the Traffic Section. During his service he receive seven commendations and a Royal Humane Society citation on vellum for trying to save someone from the sea. He was gassed during an incident at work and went on to the Radar Section until he retired in 1984. He played Rugby for the Force. On retiring he loved his allotment at Chaddesden and became Chairman of that Association and then National Chairman. A book entitled ‘An Ordinary Man – Life and Times of a PC on the Beat’ by Ken R. Smith was written about him and there was a series of stories in the Derby Evening Telegraph.
His funeral will be held at 12.00 noon on Friday 19th June 2020 at Markeaton Crematorium, Derby. Due to the pandemic only family members can attend. Any donations to the Royal British Legion and a Police Charity (to be notified)

His next of kin is his daughter Mrs Sharon Insull. John retired in about 1991 having joined the Derby Boro’ Police and served his time in Derby.
His funeral will be held at 10.15am on Wednesday 3rd June 2020 at Markeaton Crematorium, Derby and will be a family service only due to the pandemic.

It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the sudden death yesterday, 14th May 2020 of ex Insp 1316 Lee COLLISON, 63 years. His next of kin is his wife Mrs Linda Collison (ex WPC 1711). Lee was still employed by Derbyshire Police as a civilian in Firearms Licensing. He retired in about 2005/6 whilst he was Inspector in Operations Room. He worked mainly in Long Eaton, A division and Traffic.
His funeral will be held at 3.15pm on Monday 1st June 2020 at Markeaton Crematorium, Derby. Only family can attend due to the pandemic.

His funeral will be held at 2.30pm on Wednesday 27th May 2020 at Trent Valley Crematorium, Derby Road, Aston on Trent, Derby DE72 2AF. Due to the pandemic only family are allowed.

It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death on the 10th May 2020, in Hospital from emphysema with complications compounded by Covid 19, of ex Insp David Robert SKINNER, 72 years. David’s next of kin is his son Robert Skinner. David’s wife Marjorie pre deceased him. He also has a daughter, Lisa. David retired in 1997 as Inspector in Traffic Management, a post which he continued as a civilian. David first joined the Police as a Cadet in 1965. He served mainly in Traffic.

He was cremated at Brimington Cemetery in accordance with the rules at that time. His family have now arranged a Memorial Service at 3.00pm on Sunday 15th May 2022 at All Saints Church, Longedge Lane, Wingerworth, Chesterfield S42 6PU.
Following the service there will be refreshments at the Barley Mow Public House, Wingerworth. The family are keen to cater for the correct number of people so it is requested that those who intend to have refreshments email [email protected] by Friday 6th May, 2022.

It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death in a Nursing Home yesterday, 29th April 2020 of ex Insp Graham Henry BOND, 77 years. His next of kin is his wife Mrs Jean Bond. Graham retired in about 1984/85 on injury on duty pension, he served at Glossop, Chesterfield and Staveley. Graham suffered from kidney failure for the past 7 years and following an accident at home, last June, went downhill and since October has been in a Nursing Home, where he passed away today.
Due to the pandemic the funeral will be for family only.

John served in the Drug Squad at Chesterfield, CID at Alfreton and Derby CID and was head of Crime Review when he retired in 2005. John’s next of kin is his wife, Lynn Bell.

Philip retired in about 1987 and he was the Road Safety Officer for the old A Division, prior to that he was a Traffic Officer.

It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death on Monday 2nd March 2020 of ex Sgt Alan Cecil SHAW, 92 years. Alan lived with his daughter and next of kin Mrs Gail Gordon in Portsmouth. David started his Police service, after National Service with Huddersfield Borough from 1952 to 1966, he then moved to Essex from 1966 to 1971, Moving then to Hertfordshire until 1977. In 1977 he served as ACC in Derbyshire until 1983 moving on to becoming the Chief of Police in Jersey until his retirement in 1993 when he moved back to his home in Allestree.

It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death on Monday 27th January 2020 of ex Sgt David SISMEY, 68 years, after being diagnosed 8 months ago with an inoperable Cancer. David joined the Police in 1975, he served in Amber Valley, Derby, Long Eaton and Derby CID. In the 1980’s he moved into Ops Division on the Task Force and Firearms becoming an Instructor and VIP protection. In 2003 David went on a secondment to Jordan as a firearms instructor. He retired from the Police in 2005 and worked as a Police Officer on Ascension Island and worked for the United Nations in Africa.
David was a member of NARPO and the IPA and wrote of his exploits in the Police World from cycling the length of New Zealand, Trekking in the Australian Bush or kayaking in the wilds of Alaska.
David’s son Thomas is a serving officer with Warwickshire Police and would like to thank both Force colleagues and friends for their care and support to the family at this time.
His funeral will be held at 11.20am on Wednesday 12th February 2020 at Markeaton Crematorium, Derby. Afterwards at the Holly Bush Public House, Makeney. Family flowers only with donations accepted for the Macmillan Unit, Derby.

Jim lived at Ripley until his passing. His next of kin is his son, ex PC James Christopher ‘Chris’ Hinds. Jim retired in 1985 where he was a Sgt In Ilkeston. He worked mainly in ‘A’ Division, Ilkeston and Long Eaton and also at Derby Central.
His funeral will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday 11th February 2020 at Amber Valley Memorial Park and Crematorium, Derby Road, Swanwick DE55 1BH.

It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death, on the 16th January 2020 of ex Sgt James ‘Jim’ Frederick HINDS, 89 years, after a short illness since the passing of his wife last September. It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death on the 17th January 2020 of ex DC Sybil REDDINGTON (nee Ince), 82 years, after a long illness. Sybil was the widow of ex D/Supt Jim Reddington. Her next of kin is her niece Elaine Nicholls. Sybil retired from the Police in 1986 having served mainly in Derby and had been living in a Nursing home at Stanley House, Derby for many years.
Her funeral will be held at 10.40am on Friday 14th February 2020 at the Main Chapel, Markeaton Crematorium, Derby DE22 4NH.

It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the tragic death on Sunday 29th December 2019 of ex PC Arthur Henry CHAPMAN, 71 years. His next of kin is his wife Julia Chapman. Arthur had been helping his daughter and was walking upstairs and fell backwards resulting in his death.
Arthur retired in 2003. He served as a Custody Officer at Ilkeston before moving to Headquarters in the CCTV.
His funeral will be held at 2.00pm on Tuesday 4th February 2020 at Bramcote Crematorium Serenity Chapel, Coventry Lane, Bramcote, Nottingham, NG9 3GJ and all are welcome to join the family at Sandiacre Cricket Club, Longmoor Lane, Sandiacre, Nottingham NG10 5JJ afterwards.
