Bee Keeping Courses

I am a retired DCI from Nottingham, currently work with a collective of beekeepers to form a charity “ Hero’s Honey”. We are offering free beekeeping courses to any front line service personnel, retired officers or armed service personnel who have been forced to retire due to injury on duty or mental health issues.
The course will be a one day event for the officer/retired officer and any family members that care to attend and will take place in the Sheffield area. All equipment and clothing required for the day will be provided at no cost.
Beekeeping is known to be therapeutic as well as being a fascinating hobby. This one day course run by a retired member of the armed services who is now a commercial beekeeper, will hopefully offer an insight into keeping bees. The only cost to the attendee will be any travel and accommodation.
It is an aspiration of the charity to eventually provide each attendee the opportunity to have a free beehive and bees ( subject to suitable locations being available) together with a mentor to guide them through their initial beekeeping journey.

Garden Flat to rent in Harrogate, North Yorks.
We are a police family - I retired after 30yrs service in 2008 and Lisa retired after 30yrs service in June 2023.
We again offer in 2024/25, almost exclusively to Narpo, our Garden Flat (as advertised in all issues of “Narpo News” and the Narpo website) which sits underneath our property, in the centre of Harrogate. This will be let out by the night (minimum 2 nights) to discerning sensible folk and will not be on any website or public social media.
It is a great alternative to a hotel bedroom.
We are a gentle 5 minute walk (650yds) into the town centre, with wonderful Spa town amenities - Turkish Baths, Valley Gardens, the 200 acre Stray, Trains to York and, of course, Bettys Tea Rooms. Also a great selection of Bars and Restaurants and using Harrogate as a base - many attractions such as Fountains Abbey, Brimham Rocks, Thirsk (the home of Herriot) and the beautiful town of Knaresborough and its riverside walks.
The Garden Flat has off-street parking for one vehicle and we can securely accommodate bicycles on site. It enjoys a private front and rear entrance and has the benefit of fast fibre BT broadband throughout. The whole property is professionally redecorated annually.
The flat consists of one double bedroom, (5' bed) and fitted wardrobes. Full size fitted kitchen with an eating area with stools and high end appliances, plus the essential Champagne and Wine glasses. A utility room with full size washing machine, full size vented tumble dryer, iron and ironing board. Bathroom with shower (no bath) and the lounge has the usual furnishings, USB charging and a brand new smart tv with freesat.
On arrival tea, coffee and biscuits will be there to use and a pint of semi-skimmed in the fridge to get guests off to a good start. Following a warm welcome, we will be discreetly absent, but handy should a problem emerge. Inside the flat will be town centre street maps, a free parking disc for use elsewhere in town and brochures of nearby attractions.
If you have one, well-behaved, quiet dog - please ring. (a dog fee of £10 per night would apply)

Our Beautiful detached cottage is now available for holidays, its situated in the stunning medieval area of the French Dordogne. The cottage sits within our 2.5 hectare estate close to our family farmhouse "St Andrieux". The cottage has one double bedroom, bathroom and open lounge with cooker, dishwasher and usual amenities. The lounge has a log burner with an ample supply of logs and there is a Digital TV, BOSE sound system (for use by the pool also) and Wifi available.
Directly outside the cottage is a seated area for enjoying a glass of wine as the sun goes down. Up some stones steps is a large 10m outdoor private swimming pool, with shower and sun loungers. You also have free access to our gardens and woodland where you can enjoy many relaxing walks.
Close by is the beautiful city of Perigueux and the area is surrounded by stunning medieval villages (such as St Jean De Cole) with excellent restaurants and facilities for cycling, horse-riding, white water rafting, canoeing and walks. There are several local markets in the near vicinity.
The property sits about an hour between Limoges and Bergerac airports both of which are serviced by Ryanair from EMA. My Wife is also able to offer ferry and euro tunnel crossings through her French Fishing Holiday business.
