It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the sudden death on the 20th September 2021 of ex PC 3408 Stephen HARRISON, 62 years, of Derby. His next of kin is his twin brother Paul Harrison (rtd Police Officer with GMP).
Stephen started his Police Career with the Metropolitan Police before transferring to Derbyshire from whom he retired on 28th March 2019. He then joined Staffordshire Police as a civilian investigator until his passing. His funeral took place on the 19th October 2021 and was well supported by Staffordshire Police. It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death on Sunday 24th October 2021, after a short illness, of ex PC 506 Arthur Ronald HEATHCOTE, 77 years. His next of kin is his wife Mrs Jean Heathcote.
Ron, as he was known, retired in 1995 after 31 years. He served at Chesterfield and as a Detective Constable in Pear Tree CID, Derby. His funeral has been arranged for 10.15am on Tuesday 9th November 2021 at Mansfield Crematorium (Large Chapel), Derby Road, Mansfield, Notts NG18 5BJ. Sean Murphy (Secretary) It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death on Saturday 23rd October 2021, peacefully at the Florence Nightingale Hospital, Derby, after a long illness of ex PC 184 Donald William BATTERHAM, 82 years. His next of kin is his wife, Mrs Linda aka Lyn Batterham.
Don as he was known retired in 1984 whilst in the Dog Section, where he served 21 years. Prior to that he served in Buxton and Chesterfield. Members will remember his dogs Rock (2) and Basil. The funeral has not been arranged but will be a private family service as per his wishes. Vernon as he was known lived in Sunderland. His next of kin is his daughter Mrs Diane Hunter.
Vernon joined the Derbyshire Police in 1963, after National Service in the Army. He retired in about 1988 and served in CID, C Division and Sgt at Shirebrook until retirement. His funeral as been arranged for 2.00pm on Monday 8th November 2021 at Sunderland Crematorium Chester Rd, Sunderland SR4 7RS. His daughter says that she fully understands that friends and ex colleagues may not be able to attend due to the distance involved but she asks if they could bear him in their thoughts . Sean Murphy (Secretary) It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death, on the 8th October 2021, at Macclefield Hospital, after a long fight with Cancer, of ex Sgt 80 Michelle Barbara ALLEN (nee Botherway), 72 years. Her next of kin is her husband, Mr Peter Allen.
Michelle started her career with Nottinghamshire Police before transferring to Derbyshire as Sergeant. Then followed a period where she was an Instructor at the Police Training Centre at Dishforth and on return was Sergeant at Glossop Police Station. She was also the Sergeants rep on the Police Federation. She retired on ill health in about 1997. Her funeral has been arranged for 1.30pm on Tuesday 2nd November 2021 at Sherwood Crematorium, Newark Road, New Ollerton, Newark NG22 0DY. Gathering at the Crematorium is from 1.00pm to 1.20pm. His next of kin is his wife, Mrs Monica Haggart of the same address. David joined Derbyshire Police in 1970 and served in Buxton Comms and in B Division. He was also the Constable Rep. for the JBB Police Federation until his retirement on ill health in 1995. His funeral has been arranged for 1.00pm on Wednesday 27th October 2021 at All Saints Parish Church, Glossop, SK13 7RU. His next of kin is his wife Mrs Alice Harbey. Sid, as he was known, retired in 1993 as Insp at Driving School. He had previously served on Matlock Traffic. He serve in the Royal Air Force during his National Service. His funeral has been arranged for 2.30pm on Thursday 28th October 2021 at Ashbourne Methodist Church, Church Street, Ashbourne DE6 1AE; which will be a celebration of his life. Cremation at Markeaton Crematorium, Derby will take place prior and will be a family service only. His next of kin is his wife, Mrs Judy Moore. Robert served in the Army for over 10 years, before joining Derbyshire Police in about 1976. He served in Glossop until he retired on ill health in 1990. His funeral has been arranged for 12.00noon on Tuesday 26th October 2021 at Dukinfield Crematorium, Hall Green Road, Dukinfield SK16 4EP followed by a Commemorative Service at 1.15pm at St. James Church, Hollin Cross Lane, Whitfield, Glossop, SK13 8JQ.
