Leslie Alan Jepson

It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death on Monday 25th January 2021 of ex C/Inspector Leslie Alan Jepson, 83 years, in Chesterfield Royal Hospital where he was being treated for another condition and from where he contracted Covid 19.

His next of kin is his wife Mrs Daphne Elizabeth Jepson(aka Elizabeth).

Alan (or Jeppo by Chesterfield Football fans) as he was known started with the Derbyshire Constabulary in October, 1957 serving in Buxton, Chesterfield, Operations Room, Cadet Training and eventually as Chief Inspector at Chesterfield PS where he retired in 1987.

His funeral will be held at 12.00 noon on Tuesday 16th February 2021 at Amber Valley Memorial Park and Crematorium, Derby Road, Swanwick,DE55 1BH. Covid restrictions apply.

It is requested that there be family flowers only for the service.

The family have decided to honour Dad's passing by supporting the charity Care of Police Survivors which is dedicated to supporting families of police officers who have lost their lives on duty. Elizabeth Jepson would also like to thank everyone for the cards and messages of condolence that she has received.

Eric Geoffrey Tart

It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death on Friday 22nd January, 2021 of ex PC 728 Eric Geoffrey Tart, 79 years, from a stroke/Covid 19, at Chesterfield Royal Hospital.   His next of kin is his wife Mrs Elizabeth Tart.  (From 1976 to 1986 she was WPC Elizabeth Hill).
Geoff, as he was known started with Derbyshire Constabulary in 1962 and served in Buxton Division, Chesterfield and Shirebrook before becoming Vehicle examiner, a position he carried on after retirement in 1993 until his full retirement in 2006. 

​His funeral has not been arranged but he wished to have a Direct Cremation.   In view of this I do not intend to inform you of the date.

Graeme Hetherington

It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death yesterday, 17th January 2021 of ex PC 69  Graeme Hetherington, 68 years, at Preston Royal Hospital.  Graeme became poorly on New Years Day and was taken into Hospital where he was diagnosed with Covid 19 and yesterday his life support was switched off.  His next of kin is his daughter Mrs Vicki Lomax.  Graeme, who was divorced, lived alone.

Graeme retired in 2001 having served at Chesterfield, Ripley and Bakewell and after retiring joined CMU at Buxton PS as a civilian.

His funeral has been arranged for 10.00am on  Wednesday 27th January 2021 at Preston Crematorium.  Covid restrictions will apply.

Kevin George Carruthers

It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death on the 24th December 2020 of ex PC Kevin George Carruthers, 65 years with Fibrosis of the lungs.  His next of kin is his wife, although separated.
Kevin retired in late 1995 and then moved to Northern Ireland.  He served in Chesterfield.

His funeral took place on the 30th December 2020.

David Roy Ashton

​It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death on the 25th December 2020 of Ex Supt David Roy Ashton, 89 years. His next of kin is his wife Audrey Ashton.

Roy, as he was known,  collar number (672) served in Derbyshire from 1953 to 1978 when he transferred on promotion as Superintendent to West Mercia, serving in Complaints and discipline, Commandant of Droitwich Police Training School and finished as Supt. at Evesham in 1982.

His funeral will be held at 11.00am on Thursday 14th January 2021 at Amber Valley Memorial Park and Crematorium, Swanwick.
