It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death on the 18th April 2022, at home of Mrs Barbara Mary FENWICK, 94 years. Barbara was the widow of ex C/Supt Anthony Nicholas Fairfax Fenwick who passed away on the 12th April 2020 aged 92 years. Her next of kin is her son, Nick Fenwick.
Her funeral has been arranged for 2.30pm on Tuesday 17th May 2022, at Bretby Crematorium, Geary Lane, Burton on Trent DE12 QE. It is the family’s intention to hold a remembrance service to remember her husband Anthony Fenwick as well, due to the fact that no one could attend his funeral due to the pandemic. It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death on the 11th April 2022 of ex PC 1123 Stephen WAIN, 66 years, after a long battle with Cancer. His next of kin is his wife Madeleine Wain. Steve retired from Derbyshire Police in 2006 having served at Matlock, Ashbourne, Road Traffic and lastly as an Instructor in Driving School. After retiring he worked for Mercedes, Teaching Emergency defensive driving for charities and then as a civilian Driving instructor for Nottinghamshire Police. Ken, as he was known, retired in 1978 having served in Swadlincote and mainly on traffic in the Derby area. On retirement he was employed by the Police as a civilian driver based at Full Street for many years. Michael took ill whilst on holiday and after 3 weeks of tests they found a terminal tumour and he passed away at Faro Hospital, Portugal. As is the case abroad with quick funerals, he was cremated on Friday 25th March, 2022 and his ashes were scattered near his holiday home. Michael was a former cadet and was stationed mainly in B Division as uniform and CID until his retirement in 2003 when he worked in Crime Management at Buxton. It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death on the 10th February 2022, suddenly after a short illness, of ex Sgt Angela May MANSON nee GRUBB, 82 years. Angela was a long term resident of Cloverleaf Care Home, Lincoln. Unfortunately I have not been able to contact any next of kin. Angela served at Alfreton and Chesterfield until her retirement. Her funeral took place at St. Cuthbert’s Church, Brattleby, Lincs on the 8th March 2022. His next of kin is his wife Maureen. John joined the Derby Borough Police in 1958 and following the amalgamation joined the CID at Derby West until his promotion in 1973. John then worked at Peartree and as the Divisional Sgt in the Crime Prevention Dept. He was promoted to Inspector at Full Street, Derby in 1981 and later returned to lead the Crime Prevention Department until retirement in 1988. In latter years John took an active role as a committee member of the Derbyshire Branch of NARPO and on the committee of the Mutual Welfare fund. He was a larger than life character who will be sorely missed by his family. His funeral will be held at 2.30pm on Thursday 24th February 2022 at Trent Valley Crematoriun, Derby Road, Aston on Trent. Sean Murphy (Secretary) It’s with deep regret that I inform you of the passing on the 8th December 2021 of George MULDOON, 88yrs, of Clay Cross. Janitor and friend to everyone at Beetwell Street for some twenty years he became part of the very fabric of C Division through the 80’s and 90’s. His cheerfulness and wicked sense of humour endeared him to all. A fine fine man. A civilian employee, he was without doubt the best bobby Derbyshire never had. He was an elder brother of Fran Muldoon. RIP George. No collar number required! It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death today, Monday 6th December 2021, peacefully at home of ex C/Supt Henry ‘Harry’ Alwyn CARRINGTON, 92 years. For the last few years he was living with Dementia. His next of kin is his wife, Mrs Claire Carrington. Harry, as he was known, retired from the Derbyshire Constabulary in 1982 as Chief Superintendent at Headquarters (unfortunately I do not know what department). He served as a PC in Matlock, as an Inspector at Derby and he was also seconded for several years to H.M. Inspector of Constabulary.
