It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death on the 8th December 2021 of ex PC 685 Dennis FELLOWS BEM., 86 years.  Dennis passed away at home peacefully without pain.  He had been suffering with Cancer and Alzheimer’s.  His next of kin is his wife, Mrs Pat Fellows. I ask that any correspondence be sent to her son, Peter Fellows.

Dennis retired in about 1990, having served all his time at Bolsover as a Beat Bobby for which he was awarded the British Empire Medal for his services to the Community.

His funeral has been arranged for 1.30pm on Saturday 18th December 2021 at Chesterfield Crematorium, Chesterfield Road, Brimington, Chesterfield S43 1AU.

Dennis was a great and inspiring police officer, mentor and friend. A robust local figure who was held in high repute by all. In addition to his policing he was a tough tackler at football and mean cribbage player. He was also a great skinner of rabbits 'found' on nights and his home brew was legend. It is with deepest sadness that I have learnt of his passing. His lovely family were always kind towards me when I was a young police officer. I cannot say how much I owe to Dennis for guiding me through my first years as a police officer. Linda and I send our sincere condolences to Pat and family.

Sadly, I never worked with Dennis, save the odd match at Saltergate, but knew him socially as my in laws lived a stones throw from him in Bolsover.
Known by many locals as “Danny” he retained the friendship and respect of 99.9% of the people of Bolsover, despite the dark and divisive days of the Miners Strike. Some achievement, but easier I suppose when you’re as nice a bloke as Dennis.
Condolences to all the family.
