John was at Buxton (I believe living in a Police House in Burbage) when I first landed from Pannal Ash. An all round nice bloke and albeit quite young in service himself then, a good example to a green probationer. Deepest sympathy to Gill.

John was on the same intake as I, next collar number. Great fun and as genuinely nice guy as you could wish to meet.

Sad news John and I lived opposite each other for a few years in the 80s but were also colleagues for many decades. He was always a wise counsel to me both at work and on the cricket field where we shared many good times. He was a good quick bowler and useful bat to have later in the order. He was always the first to offer his help with the Roy Schofield Memorial Single Wicket competition. My condolences to Gill. A lovely man taken too soon. RIP John.

John and I served together in B Division from him arriving there. Always up for a laugh, Joan and I enjoyed some fine nights out with them, I still have a photograph of us all and our shift at a Buxton section night out to Stockport to see Dave Allen. A colleague and a friend you could always rely on. My deepest sympathy goes to Gill.
