It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death on the 6th March 2024, peacefully at home of ex PC 986 James ALLEN, 78 years. His next of kin is his son, Richard Allen.
James who retired in 1985, served in Derby and in particular was the ‘Beat Bobby’ for Chaddesden. His funeral will be by way of a direct cremation, so there will be no funeral service, as per his wishes. Sean Murphy (Secretary)

It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death in hospital on the 10th February 2024 of ex Sgt 412 Peter MUNDIN, 76 years. He is survived by his two sons, Anthony (Tony) and Nick Mundin. Peter’s wife, Pat, predeceased him in 2008. Peter joined Derbyshire Police in 1966 and was stationed at Chesterfield, Ilkeston, Long Eaton, Heanor and Derby, retiring in 1997 as patrol Sergeant. He then worked as a civilian in the Enquiry Office.
He had a heart valve bypass about two years ago and since then has suffered with his health until he had cardio vascular dementia and had to be admitted to hospital two weeks ago. His funeral has been arranged for 3.00pm on Monday 11th March 2024 at Amber Valley Memorial Park and Crematorium, Derby Road, Swanwick DE55 1BH. No flowers and donations to the Royal Mencap Society. His next of kin is his wife Mrs Susan (Sue) Allen of Repton. His first wife, Maureen, passed away in 2003. He leaves 3 sons, Paul, Mark and Jason.
Ian joined the Derbyshire Police in 1964 and retired in 1996 having served at Swadlincote, Derby and in Special Branch. On retiring he worked as a civilian investigator for Derbyshire Police and then as a security officer with a local firm. His funeral has been arranged for 3.30pm on Friday 16th February 2024 at Derby Crematorium, Markeaton Lane, Derby and afterwards at the Great Northern Hotel, Station Road, Mickleover, Derby DE3 9FB. Sean Murphy (Secretary) It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death on Sunday 7th January 2024, whilst in a Nursing Home, of Mrs Donna Louvane MUNRO, 56 years, wife of ex Insp 1587 Gerald ‘Jock’ Munro.
Donna who is described by Jock as his soulmate, a beautiful wife, and proud mother to Megan and wonderful daughter to Louvane. Donna had been living with Alzheimer’s for the past 5 years and recently had been resident in a Nursing Home in Clowne where she died peacefully. Donna's funeral and celebration of her life has been arranged for 12.00 noon on Monday 5th February 2024 at Amber Valley Memorial Park and Crematorium, Derby Road, Swanwick DE55 1BH and afterwards at the Steampacket, Public House, Swanwick where refreshments will be available. Donna loved to wear colourful dresses. It would be nice for attendees to wear bright colours. Either a dress, scarf, bright shirt & tie or similar. This is however entirely optional. If you would like to make a donation in Donna's memory, we are raising funds to help provide a sensory garden for the nursing home where she was so superbly looked after until her death. He leaves his wife, Maxine, daughter Joanne and son, Mark, who is a serving officer. There will be a private family funeral.
A celebration of Phil’s life will take place at the Proact Stadium in Chesterfield for those that knew him well from 5pm on 19th January. Max, after National Service in the Army, joined Derbyshire Police serving mainly in Chesterfield and Renishaw, retiring as Sergeant in 1984. Max will be remembered as a very good footballer playing for Sheffield United A team and Derbyshire police teams. His funeral has been arranged for 11.00am on Thursday 14th December 2023 at St. Michael’s Church, Old School Main Street, Birchover, Derbyshire DE4 2BG followed by interment at Birchover Cemetery. Sean Murphy (Secretary) It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death on the 2nd July 2023, in hospital, of ex PC 1181 Geoffrey Stanley LEADBETTER, 85 years. His next of kin is his wife, Mrs Susanne Leadbetter. Geoff suffered with COPD, fell and broke some ribs, leading to him being in Hospital where he sadly died from pneumonia.
Geoff did his National Service in 1959, after which he joined Manchester Police but couldn’t settle, so he rejoined the RAF serving 22 years. In 1979 he joined Derbyshire Police, serving in Alfreton and Ripley, until his retirement in about 1988. His funeral has already taken place on the 25th July 2023. Sean Murphy (Secretary) It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death on the 17th October 2023 of ex Sgt 29 Joseph Edward DRABBLE, 75 years, peacefully in hospital. His next of kin is his partner of 20 years, Ms. Anita Burley. Joe suffered with prostate cancer. He retired in 1997 having served in Derby, Chesterfield, Renishaw, Dronfield. He then became a part time Comms Aide at Chesterfield, where he had served as Sergeant.
His funeral took place on Wednesday 25th October 2023 at Chesterfield Crematorium. It was a direct cremation with only a small service for family, as per his wishes. His next of kin is his daughter Ms Kelly Farrell.
Mick served mainly in Derby, in CID and latterly with the Regional Crime Squad at Nottingham. He retired on medical ill health following an accident in about 1994. He was only diagnosed with Cancer in August this year but it spread very quickly. There will be no funeral as Mick wanted a Direct Cremation. However if anyone would like to make a donation, Mick nominated the Derbyshire Branch of NARPO via Thomas Ryde, Funeral Directors Bridge St., Belper. Sean Murphy (Secretary) It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death on Friday 6th October 2023, peacefully at Hospiscare, Exeter of Mrs Bridget HALL, 73 years, where she was receiving hospice care since the 15th September, after a 5 year battle with Cancer. Bridget is the wife of ex Insp 57 David Ernest Hall of Tiverton, Devon.
Members will remember Bridget from when she was the Enquiry Office Clerk at Matlock Police Station from 1986 to 1989. A private family funeral will take place at a woodland burial at the farm on a date to be arranged. Sean Murphy (Secretary) It with sadness that I have to inform you of the death on Tuesday 19th September 2023, peacefully at home from Lung Cancer of retired Constable 1314 Max BARN, 67yrs. His next of kin is his daughter Mrs Pauline Padden.
Max joined the Derbyshire Police in 1983 following service in the Royal Marines which saw him involved in active service in The Falkland Islands conflict and in Northern Ireland. He served in Buxton Division, mainly at Chapel-en-le-Frith where he was a well known and loved character. He was involved in a serious road traffic collision at work while driving a response car in 1989 and retired on ill health a few years later. Since leaving the Police Service Max worked in the Care Sector and was also involved with the rehabilitation of offenders. His funeral will take place at 12.30pm on Thursday 28th September 2023 at St Thomas Becket Church, Market Place, Chapel-en-le-Frith. A cremation service for close friends and family will follow at Macclesfield Crematorium. There will be a wake after the service at Chapel-en-le-Frith Golf Club. All are welcome. Jess retired in about 1998 having served in Matlock, Derby, Alfreton and finally at Force Headquarters, mainly in CID. He suffered with Parkinsons for the last few years.. His wife Mo passed away on the 24th May 2023. Jess like Mo will have a direct Cremation with no funeral, as per his wishes. ‘Jess was just the best Dad’. Her next of kin is her daughter Jane Thompson. Betty suffered with Parkinsons and was in residential care.

When I saw Ivan, he informed me that his daughter Claire passed away on the 17th July 2023 from Cancer. He is helping his granddaughter come to terms with the loss of a Mother and Grandmother and she is helping him with the loss of a wife and daughter. Stephen retired in 1990 on ill health. He served mainly in the Derby area. As per his wishes Stephen will be having a direct cremation, so no funeral service. Stephanie was the widow of Sgt Tony Egan, who passed away in 2010.

His next of kin is his wife, Mrs Mavis Robertson.
Duncan, joined Derbyshire Police Force in 1968, working in - Chesterfield, Bolsover, Renishaw, Shirebrook & Staveley. He was incredibly proud of what did – Worked hard to provide for his family. Leaving the force in 1979 – Duncan & Mavis went on to become Steward & Stewardess at the North Star Club, Bolsover. Comment from son Steve Roberts: That was through the tough times of the 80’s and the miners’ strike, being an ex-Miner, an ex-Police Officer and then a Landlord – Duncan could see it from every angle. He was respected by many, for the way he dealt with all. His funeral took place at 2.30pm on Friday 26th May 2023 at Chesterfield Crematorium.
