It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death on Wednesday 10th February 2021, peacefully in her Care Home, of Mrs Margaret (known as Peggy) Ada Sanderson, 98 years. Peggy was the widow of PC Jack Sanderson who retired in 1971 and passed away in 1985. Her next of kin is her son Philip Sanderson.
Her funeral has been arranged for 1.30pm on Wednesday 24th February 2021 at Amberley Chapel, Marden, nr. Hereford HR1 3HH followed by interment at 2.15pm at Humber Woodland of Remembrance, Leominster HR6 0NE. Family flowers only and Donation to the Donkey Sanctuary, Sidmouth, Devon. Sean Murphy (Secretary) ![]() It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death yesterday morning, Thursday 11th February 2021, at the Park Farm Lodge Care Home, Kettlebrook, Tamworth, Staffs, of ex PC Frank William Shaw, 100 years, after a short stay in Hospital. Frank’s next of kin is his son, Mr. Glyn Shaw. Frank served in Buxton and on Traffic. In 1974 he was kidnapped whilst on traffic patrol duty in Buxton Town Centre, by an armed escapee from Broadmoor Prison and made to drive him to Blackpool where he handed himself in. Frank was unhurt. If you recall, Frank reached the ripe old age of 100 on the 23rd May 2020. The Chief, PCC and our Chair, Dave Ashley wrote to him congratulating him of reaching this milestone and Derbyshire NARPO made him a ‘Life Member’. 23/02/21 Frank's family have decided to have a Direct Cremation with no mourners. This will take place in the next fortnight and his ashes will be scattered in his boyhood haunts in Derbyshire.. Her next of kin is her husband ex PC 87 Allan Burton. Pat had over the last 22yrs suffered from several serious diseases and whilst in hospital before Christmas she caught Covid and because of the underlying illnesses she was unable to fight it.

Geoff, as he was known, retired in 1982 whilst Sergeant at Chesterfield. He served mainly on Road Traffic and Motorway section. Graeme became poorly on New Years Day and was taken into Hospital where he was diagnosed with Covid 19 and yesterday his life support was switched off. Graeme retired in 2001 having served at Chesterfield, Ripley and Bakewell and after retiring joined CMU at Buxton PS as a civilian. Derek retired in 1993 whilst Supt in Professional Standards HQ. He served at Clay Cross, Belper, Matlock, and Buxton. He was for many years Head of Special Branch. The crematorium has asked people not to gather outside due to current Covid regulations and there will be no access to the proceedings. Norman joined the Derby Borough Police in 1948 after completing his National Service. He served mainly in Derby and Road Traffic and Driving School. He retired in 1983 and moved to Wainfleet near Skegness with Jean. Adam who was born in Poland, joined the Polish Air Force, came to England and was stationed at Hucknall, Notts. He became a Police Officer joining the Derby Borough Police after the Second World War. He was stationed at Buxton and Derby, serving on Traffic, Driving School and Road Safety. He retired in 1978 and joined Derby Council as Road Safety Officer. He was a long time member of the International Police Association (IPA) and was a member of the National Association of Retired Police Officers (NARPO). He was awarded Life Membership for his services as a Committee Member of our branch.
