It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death on Monday 30th November 2020 of ex Insp 663 William (aka Bill) Arthur DRING, 89 years. Bill was not a NARPO member. His next of kin is his wife Mrs Betty Dring.
Bill retired in 1984, whilst an acting Chief Inspector, he served in Matlock CID and Derby West. His funeral service will be held at Markeaton Crematorium, Derby, at 3.20pm on Wednesday 23rd December 2020. Restrictions apply due to the pandemic. Sean Murphy (Secretary)

I knew Bill when he was a DC at Matlock PS with DC John Allit, I was a very young Cadet in their office in 1965/66. They must have been very busy because they had to shave when they got to work. That's why I grew a beard when I was in CID. Lovely fellows.

Bill did not serve at Derby'West'.He did however serve at Derby'East'(Pear Tree} I was Station Sergeant at the time.

Bill served at Derby West as inspector, after his time at Peartree. I visited him at his office on St Mary's Gate more than once in the early 80s.
