It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death, after a short illness on Tuesday 21st February 2023 of former D/Sgt 686 Dennis RODGERS, 89yrs. His wife had died 3 years previously and his next of kin is his son Tony Rodgers.
Dennis joined Force in 1952, he worked in Derby Division and in the Traffic Department. Having attended DTS in 1962 Dennis moved to the CID in Chesterfield. He worked throughout Chesterfield Division and for a period on the Regional Crime Squad in Sheffield. In 1967 Dennis together with his colleague John Shaw were awarded the Queens Commendation for Bravery following a serious incident in Chesterfield. Dennis also represented the British Police in Rally Driving and competed throughout Europe. He retired in 1979 having achieved the rank of Detective Sergeant and then was employed for 10 years as an investigator with the Post Office. His funeral took place on Friday 17th March at Chesterfield Crematorium. Ian Louch (Vice Chair)

Dennis was my supervisor for a time when I was new to C.I.D. He was a very capable DS and was a perfect gentleman. He was a good listener and was always willing to give sound advice. A very likeable , sincere man. R.I.P. Dennis.
