He leaves his wife Jean Bentley, who suffers from Alzheimer’s. Both lived at the Limes Residential Home, Mickleover, where they both contracted Covid, he succumbed because of his failing health but Jean managed to survive. His next of kin is his daughter Mrs Gillian Higton. His funeral took place on the 24th November 2020.

Adam who was born in Poland, joined the Polish Air Force, came to England and was stationed at Hucknall, Notts.  He became a Police Officer joining the Derby Borough Police after the Second World War. He was stationed at Buxton and Derby, serving on Traffic, Driving School and Road Safety.  He retired in 1978 and joined Derby Council as Road Safety Officer.  He was a long time member of the International Police Association (IPA) and was a member of the National Association of Retired Police Officers (NARPO). I first knew Adam when I was a teenager in Duffield and he was on the youth club management committee. A quietly spoken, true gentleman who engendered great respect. I put his name down as a referee when I joined Derby County & Borough in 1971. I probably never properly thanked him, so thanks Adam.

When I first met Adam he was old but he never changed over the years. Went on many IPA trips with Adam and Jean to Italy and Poland. Lovely man, kind and caring. Happy memories.

I met Adam in the late 60s, he was a friend of my grandfather, such a pleasant , kind well spoken man. He took me on several trips out in his maxi car and accompanied by his two dogs. i had the utmost respect for Adam. I have not seen him for years, but would like to know what happened to his daughter, [Susan i believe]. Many thanks Adam.
