Worked with Phil on the rural patch at Peartree in the early 90's, then again in the ID unit at SMW in 2007. A genuine nice bloke, and a good friend. Sadly missed. RIP Phil.

I first met Phil when we started as Police Cadets in the mid 70s. You could never wish to meet a more genuinely nice chap. Much to his dismay he started out working at Glossop. PStn. Then spent the next 4 years trying to get a posting closer to his family home in Derby. He was one of the fittest healthiest people I’ve ever met. To be struck down by this terrible illness still at a relatively young age shows you can’t take anything for granted in life RIP Mate.

We had known each other for over 63 years. We were friends in school, and out of school. Phil joined the Cadets about 1974, and I joined the regulars in 1975. When I visited ‘D’ Division to police the Derby County games at the Baseball Ground, and at Pride Park Stadium I would always see Phil, and we would reminisce about the old days, happy times. Phil was always a practical joker, and I have very fond memories of him, and of our friendship. I will sadly miss you mate. RIP Phil. My sincere condolences to Phil’s wife Sharon.

Phil was one of the best: had high standards, very courteous and always reliable. Working in various parts of the County, he served with me during his times in A and D division. Paul's reminiscing of the Baseball Ground evoked similar memories. Perhaps we worked there together?
