It is with sadness that we announce the death, peacefully at home, on Monday 13th July 2026 of retired DC 162 John WILKINSON, 90 yrs. John is survived by his daughter, Diane Maxsted, having lost his wife Janet in 2019 and his son John in 2020. He also leaves five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
John joined Derbyshire Police in 1958 following his service in the British Army, where he served as a paratrooper. During his career, he served at Heanor and Alfreton on the former A Division before becoming a detective, where he later served on Special Branch. He retired from Derbyshire Police on the 3rd of August 1985. John enjoyed fishing and football and represented the force in both. Funeral details will be published when known.
