It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death on the 8th May 2025 of ex PC 425 Frank GREGORY, 92 years. Frank died peacefully in Hospital after a stay of nine weeks. His next of kin is his wife Mrs Patricia Gregory. Frank married Patricia 35 years ago after he retired, so his service history is a little sketchy. Frank served his National Service in the RAF Regiment for 3 years before joining Derbyshire Police. During his service he was a driving instructor at Headquarters. He retired in 1983 and rejoined the Police as a civilian driving instructor. He will be well remembered by those he taught to drive to the highest Police standard.
He was a member of NARPO and served as Secretary and Treasurer for many years for which he was granted Life Membership. As per his wishes there will be a Direct Cremation so there will be no funeral. Sean Murphy (Secretary)

Looking back, the driving school office at the “Cremlin” in the early 80’s must have been a joy with the likes of Frank and Jim Bowsher.

I can fill in one gap in Frank’s service. He had served on Road Traffic and he had a claim to fame of appearing on TV in 1969 with his Triumph PI patrol car sideways across the M1 at J29, stopping motorists and handing out leaflets following a notorious nearby murder. Imagine that today!
