It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death on Tuesday 15th September 2026 of retired Sgt Duncan Barrie McDOWELL, 87years.
Duncan had recently been suffering from poor health and had been resident in a care home where he died peacefully. His next of kin is his wife Jean to whom he had been married for 62 years. Duncan also leaves a son Robert and daughter Sarah and grand children Elle, Harry, Joel and Oliver. He served for 28 years in the Derbyshire Constabulary and was well remembered as the LIO Sergeant in Buxton. Following retirement Duncan enjoyed playing golf at Chapel en le Frith Golf club and was a keen supporter of Derby County. Our thoughts are with the family at this sad time. If anyone could assist with Duncan's collar number and further details of his service it would be appreciated. His funeral has been arranged for 12.00 noon on Monday 19th October 2026 at St James Church, Whiteleas Road, Taxal, Whaley Bridge SK23 7DY, and afterwards at Chapel-en-le-Frith Golf Club, The Cockyard, Manchester Rd, Chapel-en-le-Frith SK23 9UH. Ian Louch (Chair Derbys NARPO)
